All articles submitted for publication in the journal «Medicina», are reviewed for originality, ethics and significance. Compliance with standards of ethical behavior is important for all parties involved in the publication: authors, editors of the journal, reviewers, publisher. These provisions are based on the Good Practice Guidelines for Scientific Publications of the Ethics of Scientific Publications Committee.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF EDITORIAL BOARD

1. Decision on publication

1.1 The Editorial Board of the peer-reviewed journal «Medicina» is responsible for deciding which articles will be published in the journal. The decision is made based on the results of the reviewing of the article.

1.2 The Editorial Board adheres to the policy of the journal and acts within the framework of legal requirements, as it is responsible for copyright infringement. The editor can consult other editors to make a decision.

1.3 The decision to publish an article is taken solely on the basis of its scientific significance, originality, clarity of presentation and relevance of the topic of publication to the subject matter of the journal.

1.4 When submitting an ethical complaint or when identifying a conflict situation regarding a submitted manuscript or a published article, the editors should take reasonable responses in cooperation with the publisher to restore the violated rights, and, if errors are found, facilitate the publication of corrections or refutations. Every report of a fact of unethical behavior will be considered, even if it was received years after the publication of the article.

1.5. The editorial staff conscientiously works with the texts of articles, preventing the appearance of unscrupulous scientific publications containing plagiarism, falsification and fabrication of data.

1.6 The editorial board adheres to the following policy regarding the recall (retraction) of publications.

2. Confidentiality

Reviewers or any editorial staff members should not disclose any information about the submitted manuscript to anyone other than the author himself, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers and the publisher, since it is confidential.

3. Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Transfer of materials sent to the editorial office to third parties other than reviewers and editorial staff is a violation of copyright and the principle of confidentiality of editorial processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF REVIEWERS

1. Reviewers assist scientific editor in making editorial decisions and facilitate improvements in submitted manuscripts.

2. Confirmation of sources

Reviewers should identify published work that was not quoted by the author. Any statement that an observation, an origin or an argument has been previously reported must be accompanied by an appropriate reference. The reviewer should also inform the editorial office of any significant similarity or partial overlap between the manuscript that is being reviewed and another already published work that is familiar to him.

3. Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Private information or ideas emerging in the process of reviewing should remain confidential and cannot be used for personal interests. The reviewer should not review the manuscript if there is a conflict of interest because of its competitive, partnership or other relationships or links to any of the authors, companies or organizations associated with the publication.

4. Standards of impartiality

Review should be performed on an impartial basis. Personal criticism of the author is inadmissible. The opinion of the reviewer should be stated in a clear form and supported by arguments.

OBLIGATIONS OF AUTHORS

1. Accuracy and standards of research

If the manuscript is based on the original research, the authors must provide reliable results of the work done and an objective discussion of the significance of the study. The manuscript should contain all the key data, an exact description of the details of the study and references to ensure reproducibility of the results. Falsification of data or knowingly incorrect statements in the manuscript are considered unethical and are unacceptable.

2. Originality and Plagiarism

Авторы должны гарантировать, что они написали полностью оригинальную работу. Если авторы использовали работу и/или слова других авторов, это должно быть соответственно указано и процитировано. The authors must ensure the complete originality of submitted manuscript. If the authors used the results, ideas and / or words of other authors, this should be indicated and quoted accordingly.

3. Data access and security

The author should be ready to provide access to the data associated with the publication material, if any. In any case, the author should be prepared to keep such data for a reasonable period after publication.

4. Multiple, redundant or competing publication

4.1 The author should not publish work essentially describing the same study more than once or more than in one journal.

4.2 Submission of a manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously means unethical author’s behavior and is unacceptable.

4.3 When submitting an article, the author should inform the editor about all previous submissions of the work, which can be considered as duplicate or double publication. The author should notify the editor if the manuscript contains information published by the author in previous reports or submitted for another publication. In such cases, the new article should contain references to the preceding material.

5. Confirmation of sources

It is necessary to provide due confirmation of the work of other authors. Authors should quote publications that mattered when creating the work.

6. Authorship

6.1. The authorship should be limited to those who have made a tangible contribution to the concept, design, creation or interpretation of the claimed work. All those making a significant contribution, should be included in the list of co-authors.

6.2 The author must ensure that the list of authors contains only valid authors and does not include those not related to the work, and that all co-authors have read and approved the final version of the article and agreed to publish it. Inclusion in the list of authors persons who did not make an intellectual contribution to the study is a violation of copyright and ethical norms, since it not only deceives the readers, but is also regarded as fraud.

7. Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

All authors must report any financial or other conflict of interest in their work that may affect the results or interpretation of their manuscript.

8. Errors in published articles

If the author finds a significant error or inaccuracy in his published article, his duty is to immediately notify the editorial office or publisher about it and cooperate with the editorial staff in correcting the errors.
